Animal Assisted Activities
(AAA) provide opportunities for motivational, educational,
and/or recreational benefits to enhance quality of flife.
AAA are delivered in a variety of environments by a specifically
trained professional, paraprofessional, and/or volunteer,
in association with aniamls that meet specific criteria.
The key features of AAA are:
- Specific treatment
goals are not planned for each visit.
- Volunteers and treatment providers
are not required to take detailed notes or record results
ofa visit.
- Visit content is spontaneous and may
last only a few minutes.

Partner Team Training Manual, 2007)
Examples of AAA:

A facility staff member over sees the activities, which
usually include "meet and greet" activities,
simple games, and discussions about animals. There are
no specific treatment goals outlined for the people involved.
No documentation of progress is detailed.
